Audit Director
Job Description
- Assist clients in the conversion from one accounting framework to another, such as from U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) or Japanese GAAP, which requires meticulous planning and execution;
- Assess and evaluate the differences between the U.S. and Japanese accounting frameworks, including measurement bases, recognition criteria, and disclosure requirements;
- Develop a tailored implementation strategy that addresses the unique needs of each client, ensuring compliance while minimizing disruptions to ongoing operations;
- Provide training sessions for clients on the nuances of the new standards and ongoing support to facilitate a smooth transition;
- Design audit methodologies that are integrated with global standards while adhering to local regulatory requirements;
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments that take into account diverse operational environments, ensuring that audits are focused on areas of greatest risk;
- Deliver clear, concise reports that are in compliance with the expectations of stakeholders, including investors, regulators, and management;
- Assist new businesses aiming to go public in establishing strong internal control frameworks by identifying potential risks and implementing controls to mitigate them, thereby increasing the reliability of financial reporting;
- Develop a robust documentation practice to support internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements;
- Establish mechanisms for continuous evaluation and monitoring of internal controls to adapt to changing business environments and regulatory landscapes;
- Develop audit teams with a deep understanding of both Japanese business practices and U.S. regulations by training audit teams to navigate cultural differences, enhancing communication and collaboration;
- Implement audit strategies that adhere to business customs and regulatory standards both in Japan and in the U.S.;
- Building long-term relationships with clients by providing reliable, consistent services that meet their unique needs;
- Provide comprehensive consultation services for Japanese businesses looking to expand into the U.S. market by providing insights into the U.S. market landscape, including competitive analysis, consumer behavior, and regulatory considerations;
- Assist in the development of market entry strategies, including choosing the right business structure and establishing operational frameworks; and
- Ensure that clients understand and adhere to Japanese and/or U.S. laws and regulations, helping to navigate the complexities of compliance.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, or related; foreign degree acceptable;
- 24 months experience as Auditor;
- CPA license both in the U.S. and Japan;
- 24 months work experience in conducting audits for U.S. subsidiaries of Japanese parent companies listed on the Prime Market Segment of the Tokyo Stock Exchange; and
- 24 months work experience in conducting audits and providing accounting consultations for PCAOB-registered clients and publicly traded companies.
- Up to 20% domestic and international travel to conduct onsite audit fieldwork and client visits, attend internal and external meetings and trainings, participate in industry events, and attend SCS Group’s Global Conference.
Rate of Pay
$210,000–$250,000 per year
